FREE Birth DOULA SERVICES
Expert, Free Birth Doula Support for the DMV Community
Navigating pregnancy and birth shouldn’t feel impossible. M.A.M.A. Community Foundation provides accessible birth support specifically for low-income and marginalized families who face systemic barriers to quality care. We offer a streamlined pathway to free, expert advocacy so you can focus on your health and your baby, not the financial stress of finding support.

Our Commitment to Your Birth
As a client, you become part of a movement that ensures:
Equity and Dignity: You are treated with respect, and your autonomy is honored in every interaction.
Empowered Birth: We help break cycles of birth trauma by equipping you with education and support to experience an informed, confident birth.
Cultural Safety: We honor your culture and language, with a focus on culturally matched support whenever possible.
- Economic Justice: We remove financial barriers by providing free birth advocacy and doula care to those who need it most. We believe that access to a safe birth is a human right, not a luxury reserved for those who can afford it.
How the CDN Works
The Community Doula Network is not a doula agency. It is a coordinated hub that connects trained volunteer doulas with families seeking free birth support throughout the DMV.
Here’s how you’ll serve as a volunteer doula:
- You Apply: Complete a confidential application to let us know your due date and support needs (DC, Maryland, and Virginia families only).
- Doulas Sign Up: Volunteer doulas review available cases and sign up based on their availability, experience, and cultural/language alignment with your preferences.
- Support Begins: After a doula signs on to support your family, they’ll reach out to introduce themselves and begin building your connection. They will walk with you from pregnancy through postpartum, providing the support outlined below.
- The CDN Team Supports the Process: We stay connected with both you and your doula to promote clear communication, smooth coordination, and a high-quality experience.
