Building The Village for D.C. Families
At the M.A.M.A. Community Foundation, our mission is to empower families through maternal support. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a dedicated community to uplift, educate, and care for growing families from the very beginning.
In partnership with the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), we are proud to host the 2026 Community Baby Shower under this year’s theme: Nurturing the Mother, Celebrating the Baby. This family-centered afternoon brings together expectant parents and caregivers in the Washington, D.C. area for a day filled with essential baby care items, trusted health professionals, and lifelong community resources. Our goal is to promote positive maternal and infant health outcomes, reduce financial stress on new parents, and ensure every family enters parenthood feeling valued, informed, and fully supported.
What Attendees Can Expect
Free Essential Baby Gear
Diapers, wipes, newborn care items, and postpartum recovery kits & self-care items for moms.
Curated Resource Fair
Face-to-face support from birthing centers, pelvic floor therapists, perinatal mental health pros, pediatric chiropractors, and paid family leave advocates.
Support Programs
Direct onboarding for our Free Doula Program and monthly M.A.M.A. Meetups.
Giveaways & Celebration
Door prizes, raffles, light refreshments, and community connection.
Note: Attendance is strictly capped at 100 families to ensure a high-quality experience. On-site retail sales are prohibited to keep the focus entirely on parent education and resource sharing.
